During the summer of 2019 I took part in a study abroad trip to India to study social entrepreneurship for five weeks. During this time we spent ten days in Mumbai to focus on a personal research project. Myself, and three other Northeastern students partnered with a Mumbai based non-profit NGO called Vanashakti to research how industrialization and urbanization have impacted the mangrove infestation of Thane Creek. In addition, we interviewed local fishermen to better understand how the environment affects their fishing and livelihood. I photographed the process and designed this magazine as one of our final deliverables.
